Playtomic buys fitness software firm TIMP to expand beyond padel

What's the deal? Spanish company Playtomic has acquired TIMPDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a SaaS platform for managing gyms, sports centres, boutique studios, yoga and pilates centres, and physiotherapy and wellness businesses in Spain and Italy. Terms were undisclosed.

What changes? TIMP will keep operating independently, with its own brand, team, and focus on fitness and wellness. Playtomic stays centred on racket sports.

What's the endgame? The two will work on integrating their platforms so centres that combine padel courts with other activities can manage each with a specialised tool, "avoiding duplication and simplifying daily operations," the company said (translated from Spanish).

The acquisition adds more than 3,500 centres to Playtomic's reach. These clients use TIMP to centralise bookings, schedules, payments, billing, and communications, and to automate operations.

Why now? More centres with padel courts are broadening their offerings with other activities and services. Playtomic saw a market opening there.

Playtomic is the largest global community of racket sports players and clubs, present in more than 66 countries with over 4.7 million players across more than 6,500 partner clubs. It began as a SaaS platform before pivoting to a marketplace for padel players.

According to Playtomic, centres using TIMP recover an average of 150 hours of work per month, cut administrative tasks by up to 60% through digitisation and automation, and raise attendance by up to 25%.

The signal: "We see a very clear opportunity to work together on the integration of both platforms to offer a better experience to those centres that already combine padel courts with other activities and services," said chief executive officer and cofounder Felix Ruiz (translated from Spanish). The deal marks Playtomic's push to consolidate its position in sport beyond racket games.
