Saubermacher buys 65% of Austrian pipe specialist Quabus

What does Quabus do? It provides trenchless rehabilitation for sewers, pressure pipes, and water mains, plus inspection and testing services. The company employs around 100 people in Austria and runs subsidiaries in Germany, Czechia, and Slovakia.

By the numbers: Quabus generated revenue of €19.5m in Austria in 2024.

What's the endgame? Saubermacher wants to broaden the sewer services it can offer and support expansion in Austria and abroad, the companies said in a joint statement. Quabus's services complement its existing operations.

Why now? The deal cleared Austria's Federal Competition Authority on September 17, 2026.

The signal: The acquisition extends a waste management firm into infrastructure maintenance, bundling collection and disposal with the repair of underground pipe networks across central Europe.
