Sovos buys Flowie to build "compliant finance" AI platform

What's the deal? Tax compliance firm Sovos has acquired FlowieDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, an AI-native finance orchestration startup, for an undisclosed sum. Sovos is combining Flowie's finance and procurement agents with its own global tax data to create what it calls a Compliant Finance Platform.

What does each do? Flowie builds autonomous agents that automate accounts payable, procure-to-pay, contracts, invoicing, collections, and vendor onboarding, running on top of enterprise resource planning systems. Sovos processes more than 70 billion transactions a year and supports compliance in more than 150 countries, serving over 100,000 customers, including half the Fortune 500.

What's the endgame? After the deal, Flowie's agents can tap Sovos' regulatory data as they execute transactions, embedding jurisdiction-specific compliance directly into automated finance processes. The companies are also launching the Sovos Graph, a data layer that links business processes, systems, and the regulatory mandates governing transactions.

What's the product? Flowie's agents interpret finance, compliance, or procurement goals, plan the steps, and act without relying on rules-based workflow engines. They will run alongside Sovos' Sovi Agent Studio, which offers pre-built compliance agents for tasks such as e-invoice error diagnosis and data reconciliation. Flowie is immediately available to Sovos customers.

Why now? The companies frame the deal around a trade-off facing finance teams. "Finance and procurement teams have been forced to choose between moving fast and staying compliant," said Yann Ravel-Sibillot, co-founder and chief executive officer of Flowie. "That trade-off disappears now that Flowie and Sovos are combined."

Flowie was named a representative vendor in GartnerDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →'s September 2025 report on procurement orchestration platforms. One of its customers reported saving 30 hours a week after replacing four separate accounts payable tools with Flowie agents.

The signal: The deal reflects a race to pair agentic AI with the proprietary data needed to make it reliable in regulated domains. "Companies can run their business processes at agentic speed and still know, transaction by transaction, that they are compliant," said Kevin Akeroyd, chief executive officer of Sovos.
