Try Dealroom → platform, and tools to publish and monetise apps. "We address the biggest challenge in AI today, which is monetizing one's AI work," said chief executive officer Tom Anderson.
Why now? Anderson argues the software world has shifted in the past 10 months. As AI makes it cheap and fast for anyone to create an application, he says, "the old SaaS business models no longer make sense."
What else? Alongside the investment, Fias and Service Ventures struck a partnership to build AI- and blockchain-based business software for credit unions and their members. Fias has already built a suite of enterprise-grade applications covering core operational functions, which organisations can adopt one at a time or as a full suite.
The partnership targets an underserved market. Credit unions collectively serve more than 145 million individuals and small and mid-sized businesses across the US, groups long caught between expensive SaaS platforms built for larger companies and thin tools that do not fit how they work.
What's next? The two plan to explore bespoke software versions, AI-driven advertising optimisation, agentic AI solutions, and additional blockchain-based products for financial services. "What drew us to Fias is that they are not adding AI onto software built for a previous era," said David Araujo, president and chief executive officer of Service Credit Union.
The signal: The deal reflects a bet that AI has reset the economics of software development, making full-featured business tools affordable for institutions that modern SaaS has largely passed by.
