Try Dealroom →, a Stockholm-based oncology drug developer, has been awarded roughly US$113.6K from Swedish innovation agency VinnovaDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →. The grant backs a joint research initiative with MAX IVDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a national research facility, focused on alternative methods for fragment screening in drug discovery.

What's the endgame? The partners will study how temperature affects the way small-molecule fragments bind to target proteins — the starting points for Sprint's programs. The work compares fragment screening under cryogenic and room-temperature conditions to see whether room-temperature studies yield more biologically relevant insights.

The project runs from November 2026 to October 2028. Of the total award, Sprint may receive up to roughly US$85.1K, with the remainder supporting MAX IV's capacity to offer room-temperature data collection for industrial users.

Why it matters: Sprint develops small-molecule, first-in-class programs using a fragment-based method it says is time- and resource-efficient, licensing them to larger pharmaceutical firms in the pre-clinical phase.

Chief executive officer Johan Emilsson called the decision "a clear recognition of the expertise and scientific capabilities that Sprint Bioscience has built within fragment-based drug discovery." He said the collaboration offers "an opportunity to explore new approaches that could strengthen future drug discovery programs."

The signal: The grant is modest — among the smaller funding events on record — but it keeps Sprint, listed on Nasdaq First North Premier Growth Market, investing in the core screening technology its licensing model depends on while deepening ties to Sweden's research infrastructure.
