Analysys Mason buys Swedish AI consultancy Modulai to add technical muscle

What's the deal? Analysys MasonDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has acquired ModulaiDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a Sweden-based AI and machine learning (ML) consultancy, for an undisclosed sum. The deal adds specialist technical AI, ML, and agentic solutions capabilities to Analysys Mason's strategy, transformation, and transaction advisory work.

Who's who? Founded in 2018, Modulai employs around 35 engineers with expertise spanning generative AI, computer vision, natural language processing, recommender systems, and robotics. It builds customised solutions for startups, scaleups, private-equity portfolio companies, and Fortune 1000 organisations.

Why now? Analysys Mason posted 19% organic growth in its financial year to February 2026, which accelerated in the first half of the current year. The acquisition is its first strategic deal under chief executive officer Mark Billige, who joined in November 2025.

What's the endgame? The combined teams will support clients with large-scale AI transformations, AI due diligence, and AI implementation across telecoms, software, financial services, and manufacturing. Modulai gains access to Analysys Mason's international footprint and client base.

"One top priority, in addition to organic growth, was to complete the acquisition of the leading Northern European AI and ML consultancy Modulai," Billige said.

Josef Lindman Hörnlund, co-founder and chief executive officer at Modulai, framed the fit around delivery. "The bottleneck for really getting the value out of AI is not only technology but organisational change and a bold strategy," he said.

The signal: As AI moves to the centre of strategy and transformation decisions, advisory firms are buying technical talent rather than building it. Analysys Mason's move reflects a wider push among consultancies to pair commercial insight with hands-on ML engineering.
