What's the deal? Blackstone-backed ASK Investment ManagersDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → will acquire SageOne Investment ManagersDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, an Indian asset manager operating across portfolio management services (PMS) and alternative investment funds (AIF), the companies said. The transaction is valued at about $200 million, according to an industry executive, though the firms did not disclose financial terms.
What each side brings: SageOne, founded in 2012, manages nearly US$1.22B in equity assets for high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth clients from offices in Pune, Mumbai, and GIFT City. ASK offers PMS, AIFs, real estate private equity, wealth management, private credit, and more, managing over US$10.5B as of March 31, 2026. Combined, the platform will hold more than US$11.5B in assets.
The key hire: SageOne founder Samit Vartak will reinvest in ASK and become chief investment officer for equities across the combined business. "ASK gives us the scale and institutional support, without changing the philosophy and discipline that defines how we invest," Vartak said.
Why now? Blackstone, which took a majority stake in ASK in 2022, will remain the majority shareholder and says it is bullish on Indian asset and wealth management. "We believe that SageOne is the right addition to the ASK platform and solidifies its equities asset management business," said Ganesh Mani, senior managing director at Blackstone.
What's the endgame? The deal strengthens ASK's equity capabilities and gives SageOne access to ASK's global distribution footprint. SageOne's core portfolio has delivered annualised returns of 25.3% from April 1, 2012 to August 31, 2026, against 13.8% for the BSE 500 TRI over the same period.
The signal: The acquisition reflects continued consolidation in India's asset-management sector, as scaled, institutionally backed platforms absorb high-performing boutique managers to broaden product ranges and distribution reach.
