What's the deal? Microsoft CEO Satya NadellaDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → announced the company's largest update to Microsoft Copilot to date, positioning Copilot as "a new OS for work" that spans every model, every form factor and every task. The update combines four pillars: Autopilot, a proactive and long-running agent for the enterprise; Code, which lets users build apps with Copilot hosted inside their company's tenant (built on the same underlying technology as GitHub Copilot); Home, which merges the Chat and Cowork experiences into one starting point; and Office, with Word, Excel and PowerPoint now fully embedded in Copilot. Copilot can also be invoked in Teams, and Microsoft is introducing Today, a proactive experience that surfaces the most important information across Microsoft 365. Announced on 25 September 2026.
Why it matters: The move shifts Copilot from a chat assistant to an agentic layer over the Microsoft 365 stack.
