How it works: Rather than consolidating, Devolutions wants to build a connected ecosystem of complementary technologies for IT teams and MSPs. Companies it backs keep operating independently, retaining their leadership and product roadmaps.
What founders get: Portfolio companies can tap Devolutions' community of more than one million IT professionals across 140 countries, plus its experience in go-to-market, security, and community building.
"We're approaching Devolutions Ventures as advisors, not simply investors," said chief executive officer David Hervieux. "We want to back strong teams for the long term, give them room to keep building and use what we've learned to help them grow."
Why now? Devolutions has spent more than 15 years building for IT teams. Over the next 12 to 18 months, it plans to expand its network of investments and partnerships across AI, network technologies, developer tools, and open source software.
The signal: Corporate venture arms let established software firms extend their reach without heavy acquisitions. By positioning itself as an operator-investor, Devolutions is betting that domain expertise and community access matter as much as capital in a crowded IT tools market.
