What each company does: Founded in 1987, PCI is a Defense Logistics Agency QPL manufacturer of MIL-DTL-55181 and MIL-DTL-55116 connectors used in hand-held and mounted radio systems. Trexon supplies specialty connectivity solutions for mission-critical applications.
What's the endgame? The acquisition adds PCI's power and audio connectors to Trexon's aerospace and defense portfolio. "We believe this will be a symbiotic relationship, allowing PCI to benefit from our broad technical expertise, international salesforce, and global footprint," said Dr. Nildeep Patel, president of Trexon's Engineered Products Division.
Why now? Both firms point to demand for lighter, smaller connectors in defense communications. The pairing "paves the way for a quicker time to market in support of the dynamic needs of the defense communication industry," said PCI general manager Todd West.
What changes for customers? Trexon gains specialized tactical communications connectors plus value-added services such as cable assemblies, box builds, and electro-mechanical hardware. PCI founder Andrew Linder said the deal will "enhance Trexon's solutions offerings" across markets including aerospace and defense, semiconductor, subsea, renewables, and medical devices.
The signal: Private equity-backed Trexon is consolidating niche connector makers to build a one-stop supplier for high-reliability, mission-critical markets — a bet that defense and aerospace buyers increasingly want a single vendor across cable, connectivity, and assembly.
