BlackLine buys NetNow to push credit checks into its Invoice-to-Cash suite
What's the deal? BlackLine (Nasdaq: BL) has acquired NetNowDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, an AI-enabled B2B customer onboarding and credit risk management platform. The deal, announced September 21, 2026, has an undisclosed value.
What does NetNow do? It digitises the processes that happen before an invoice exists — credit applications, trade references, risk assessment, fraud detection, and ongoing credit monitoring. Many finance teams still run these tasks across paper forms, PDFs, emails, and spreadsheets.
Why now? Credit is one of the earliest financial decisions a company makes, yet it remains largely manual. Adding NetNow pushes BlackLine's Invoice-to-Cash solution further upstream, linking credit decisions to downstream receivables.
What's the endgame? The acquisition feeds BlackLine's Agentic Financial Operations strategy, adding customer and credit risk intelligence to the financial processes it orchestrates for the Office of the CFO.
"Credit is one of the earliest and most consequential financial decisions a company makes in the customer relationship, yet the process remains remarkably manual for many organizations," said Andy Lilley, managing director for Invoice-to-Cash at BlackLine.
What changes for customers? NetNow's tools — digital onboarding, automated credit intelligence, AI-enabled fraud detection, and portfolio monitoring — will fold into BlackLine's Invoice-to-Cash portfolio. The company says the combined capabilities can influence revenue, risk, working capital, and cash flow.
"Together with BlackLine, we can connect that intelligence with a much broader financial operations platform and create even greater value for customers," said Nauman Hafeez, NetNow's chief executive officer.
Wilson, Sonsini, Goodrich & Rosati and Blake, Cassels & Graydon advised BlackLine. Lightning PartnersDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → was NetNow's financial advisor, with Fasken Martineau DuMoulin as legal counsel.
The signal: As AI takes on a bigger role in finance, vendors are racing to stitch together the full customer lifecycle. BlackLine's bet is that credit intelligence at the front end makes its automation more valuable — provided the transparency and auditability finance teams demand hold up.
