What each side brings: Founded in 2010, Brazi Bites makes gluten-free frozen products, led by its Brazilian Cheese Bread — inspired by traditional pão de queijo and made with tapioca flour and real cheese — plus a growing line of protein waffles. MGP is a food-focused private equity firm that provides succession liquidity and growth capital across the food and agriculture value chain.
What's the endgame? Brazi Bites has built distribution across club, conventional, and natural retail channels, and wants to reach more households next. "We see tremendous opportunity to introduce Brazi Bites to even more households in this next phase of growth," said chief executive officer Mike Guanella.
Why MGP? The firm brings experience across agriculture, food manufacturing, private label, and branded products, supporting portfolio companies through operational expertise, channel expansion, and product innovation. It aims to help management accelerate growth using its industry network.
The signal: The deal reflects continued private equity appetite for better-for-you food brands with loyal customers and room to expand. For Brazi Bites, the sale swaps one financial backer for another focused specifically on scaling food businesses.
