Try Dealroom →, a €6.668 million vehicle to finance the growth of Ghanaian enterprises. Of the total, the EU and the Netherlands contributed €4.3 million, while Fidelity Bank Ghana added €2.368 million.

What's the endgame? The fund targets small and medium-sized enterprises, offering financing and support to adopt green technologies, expand, and create sustainable jobs. The aim is to position them to compete in domestic and European markets, and the African Continental Free Trade Area.

Why now? The fund was unveiled at the EU session of the Ghana Industrial Summit and Exhibition 2026 in East Legon, Accra, organised by the Association of Ghana Industries. It forms part of the €17.3 million Green, Digital and Inclusive Private Sector Development Project, a four-year initiative launched in January 2026.

EU Ambassador Rune Skinnebach said Ghana had no shortage of ideas or entrepreneurs, but that the missing link had been financing and support to turn ideas into viable businesses. "The EU believes strongly that the private sector is a driving force for sustainable economic growth," he said.

Sampson Ahi, deputy minister of trade, agribusiness and industry, described the fund as "a bridge between Ghanaian ingenuity, global opportunities and the markets of the future." He urged SMEs to adopt cleaner and digital technologies to reach European, African and global markets.

The signal: The fund sits within the EU's Global Gateway strategy, which channels investment into sustainable growth, digital transformation and resilient economies. By pairing public money with a commercial bank's capital, backers are betting that blended finance can unlock green growth where private lending alone has fallen short.
