Try Dealroom → said it will retain Scantek's Pennsylvania operations.

Who are they? Kofile works with governments nationwide on records preservation, digitisation, and AI-enabled records intelligence through its Kleio platform. Scantek, founded in 1960, offers document scanning, records management, compliance, and disaster recovery services across multiple sectors.

What's the rationale? Kofile said the deal expands its operational capacity and strengthens high-volume imaging, quality control, and security. It also broadens its client base geographically and into new industries.

Why the Northeast? "The Northeast is home to some of the nation's oldest communities, richest archives, and most historically significant records," said chief executive officer Ray Aschenbach. He framed the acquisition as an effort to become "the premier partner for preservation, digitization, and information intelligence across the region."

What changes for clients? Scantek's team joins Kofile, gaining access to greater scale and AI-powered tools. "This combination creates greater opportunities for our employees, expands the capabilities we can offer our clients, and provides a strong foundation for continued growth," said Ron Simone, Scantek principal and VP of sales.

The signal: Government records remain a fragmented market, and Kofile is consolidating regional specialists to pair legacy preservation expertise with newer AI-driven document intelligence. The bet is that public agencies will keep paying to digitise and secure archives that still sit on paper.
