Wayflyer lands $50M debt facility from Trinity Capital to fuel small-business lending

What's the deal? Wayflyer, a global working capital provider for small businesses, has secured a $50 million corporate debt facility from Trinity CapitalDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a US-listed alternative asset manager focused on private credit. The deal expands the pool of growth capital Wayflyer can lend to the brands it serves.

Why now? The facility caps a busy stretch of capital markets activity for Wayflyer. In July it announced a $1.5 billion forward flow arrangement with Fortress Investment GroupDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, extending its total funding capacity to deploy up to $4.5 billion over the next 24 months, and in February it added a $250 million credit facility with ATLAS SP PartnersDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →.

What's the endgame? Beyond meeting rising demand for its working capital, Wayflyer plans to invest in growth areas — including its AI capability, “IntelligenceDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →,” acquired earlier this year. “This facility gives us the room to fuel our next phase of growth, and invest our own capital in emerging growth areas,” said chief executive officer and co-founder Aidan Corbett.

Since launching in 2020, Wayflyer has deployed more than $6 billion in working capital to thousands of brands worldwide.

For Trinity Capital, the transaction extends a European lending programme run from its London office. The firm has deployed more than $6.2 billion across over 490 investments since 2008, and has built out its presence outside the US over the past two years.

What's Trinity's read? “We believe Wayflyer is reshaping how small businesses access growth capital, using performance data to put funding in founders' hands far faster than conventional models allow,” said Craig Fox, managing director of originations, tech lending. Colleague Steven Lambe added that Wayflyer offers capital “to businesses traditional providers overlook.”

The signal: The size of this facility places it among the largest tenth of debt rounds in the marketing sector on record, based on a sample of 1,778 deals. It underscores how data-driven lenders are stacking debt facilities to serve small businesses that banks tend to pass over.
