What's the endgame? Unstop wants to push assessment deeper into its hiring ecosystem. It said PerspectAI's tools will eventually reach campus recruiters, lateral hiring teams and large enterprises, while PerspectAI's clients gain access to Unstop's wider talent products.
Why buy now? PerspectAI was profitable in FY26, making this an acquisition of an operating business rather than a pure tech or talent deal. "PerspectAI is not a bet on a roadmap. It is a product that large, demanding enterprises already trust and pay for," said Unstop founder and chief executive officer Ankit Aggarwal.
What changes for the team? Co-founder and CEO Jignesh Talasila will lead Unstop's expansion into education and government, while co-founder and chief technology officer Suraj Vanka joins its product leadership.
The signal: Employers are looking beyond credentials as AI reshapes needed skills — AI-related hiring in India's IT sector rose 16% year-on-year in June, even as overall IT recruitment fell 3%. Assessment technology is also gaining ground as recruiters fight generative-AI-enabled cheating and impersonation, though behavioural and cognitive data raises fresh data governance questions.
