The growth equity fund backs private companies with strong execution, high growth, and large addressable markets. Morgan Stanley and its affiliates and employees committed 24% of the capital.
What's the endgame? The fund provides flexible capital across primary and secondary transactions, including company-led liquidity solutions. Early investments include Databricks, Anduril, and Ramp. It sits within MSIM's $280 billion Alternatives platform.
Why now? "Many of today's leading growth companies are staying private for longer, with more value creation occurring in the private markets," said Pedro Teixeira, managing director of private credit and equity at MSIM. The fund aims to give investors exposure to those companies before they reach public markets.
The bigger play: MSIM is leaning on Morgan Stanley's full franchise — investment management, institutional securities, and wealth management. David N. Miller, global head of private credit and equity, said the firm's relationships with growth companies "can span their entire lifecycle, from early capital formation through private-market financing, strategic advisory, liquidity and ultimately the public markets."
The signal: With startups staying private longer, banks and asset managers are building growth equity vehicles to capture value that once accrued in public listings. MSIM oversees $2 trillion in assets under management or supervision, and this fund extends its push into private markets.
