Niobrara buys Canada's MSP Corp to enter North American IT services market

What's the deal? US private equity firm Niobrara CapitalDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has acquired MSP Corp, a pan-Canadian managed IT services provider that remotely handles infrastructure, cybersecurity, and cloud environments for small and midsize businesses. The firms announced the deal on September 16, 2026. Financial terms were not disclosed.

What each side brings: Founded in 1993, the founder-led MSP Corp offers a full-service platform spanning IT monitoring, managed cybersecurity, multi-cloud management, backup and disaster recovery, and emerging data compliance and AI work, all on recurring contracts. Niobrara focuses on middle-market B2B technology companies with strong market positions and recurring revenue.

Why now? "The Canadian managed IT services market remains fragmented, and AI adoption is creating new demand and expanding the scope of what providers can deliver," said Otavio Birman, managing director at Niobrara Capital.

What's the endgame? Niobrara plans to deepen MSP Corp's footprint in Canada while pursuing new channels that extend the platform into the US. It cited MSP Corp's customer retention and acquisition track record as a foundation for growth.

Between the lines: Birman said Canada "offers a compelling entry point into the North American managed services market," positioning the acquisition as a base for further consolidation.

The signal: Private equity continues to roll up fragmented managed services providers, betting that rising AI adoption will expand what outsourced IT partners sell to smaller firms.
