Try Dealroom → will anchor Planetcast's newly formed Products Division.
What each company does: Planetcast, founded in 1996, powers more than 350 channels and supports over 50 broadcasters worldwide. BroadStream builds the OASYS Integrated Playout platform, plus tools for time delay, captioning, subtitling and accessibility workflows.
What's the endgame? Planetcast wants to expand from services into software, letting customers build linear, streaming and hybrid workflows more efficiently. The Products Division will combine BroadStream's software with Planetcast's global infrastructure and distribution reach.
Who's in charge? David Bowes, BroadStream's chief executive officer, will lead the new division, overseeing product strategy, development and go-to-market execution. His first focus is guiding existing customers and partners through the transition.
"BroadStream is a natural fit for Planetcast as we expand our product capabilities alongside our global services business," said Sanjay Bhatt, chief executive officer of Planetcast.
Why now? Content owners increasingly need to run playout, localization and distribution across both broadcast and streaming. The deal lets Planetcast connect these steps across the content lifecycle rather than offering them piecemeal.
The signal: As media companies juggle linear and streaming demands, the industry is consolidating services and software under single vendors. Planetcast's move to own its product stack reflects a broader push toward integrated, end-to-end media workflows.
