Pinegrove closes oversubscribed $1.5B fund of funds

What's the deal? Pinegrove Venture PartnersDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has closed its Strategic Investors Fund XII (SIF XII) at $1.5 billion, the firm announced on September 10, 2026. The fund raised capital across two strategies and was significantly oversubscribed, with demand exceeding its target.

How it works: SIF XII splits into two complementary strategies. SIF XII-Early backs early-stage managers, while SIF XII-Scale invests with expansion-stage managers and makes selective co-investments alongside leading general partners. The structure lets investors build exposure across the venture lifecycle.

Who's backing it? The Florida State Board of AdministrationDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → anchored the fund. "Pinegrove is one of our most important and successful partnerships, helping us access the innovation economy," said John Bradley, its head of private equity.

What's the endgame? Pinegrove gives institutional investors concentrated exposure to a select group of venture managers and the private technology companies they back. The firm says its long-standing relationships create an information advantage, unlocking bespoke co-investments and tailored portfolio solutions unavailable through conventional fund structures.

Why now? SIF XII is investing across a three-year vintage during what the firm calls "accelerating innovation" in artificial intelligence, infrastructure, enterprise software, healthcare, life sciences, and defence. The fund has already backed leading private technology companies through its managers and co-investment program.

"Venture capital rewards patience, conviction and trusted relationships," said Aaron Gershenberg, managing partner of Pinegrove Venture Partners. He added that SIF XII "reflects the continued confidence of our partners" in the firm's approach.

The signal: The oversubscribed close shows institutional appetite for curated venture access remains strong, even as investors navigate an increasingly specialised private-markets landscape. Pinegrove builds on a 26-year SIF track record, positioning itself as an intermediary between capital and the managers shaping the innovation economy.
