Try Dealroom →, an Australian food manufacturing and product development company, has acquired New Zealand foodservice sauces and condiments maker GroenzDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →. The deal is Flavour Makers' first operation outside Australia. Terms were not disclosed.

What each side brings: Groenz adds a Wellington manufacturing facility, offices in Auckland, and a team of around 90 people. It also brings 165 SKUs, a BRCGS AA+ quality certification, and the "Frenchmaid" brand serving hospitality professionals and chefs.

What changes for customers? Little, according to the company. Flavour Makers said the Frenchmaid brand and full Groenz portfolio will "continue operating exactly as it does today," with no disruption to manufacturing or delivery across existing sites.

The expansion angle: The acquisition establishes Flavour Makers' base for a regional trans-Tasman presence. Over time, Groenz will draw on Flavour Makers' manufacturing and culinary capabilities to widen its offering across the New Zealand and Australian foodservice markets.

Why now? Founder Adrian Cester framed the purchase as deliberate. "Groenz brings around 90 people, 165 SKUs, and a BRCGS AA+ quality certification, a business built on exactly the kind of products and standards we value here," he said.

The signal: By buying an established, certified manufacturer rather than building from scratch, Flavour Makers is betting on consolidation as the fastest route into foodservice on both sides of the Tasman.
