Milestone

Molbio swings to Rs 52.7 crore Q1 profit after Rs 940 crore IPO

What's the deal? Molbio Diagnostics posted a profit of Rs 52.74 crore in the June quarter, reversing a Rs 23.94 crore loss a year earlier. Total income rose to Rs 411.48 crore, up from Rs 100.47 crore in Q1 FY26.

What drove it? Sales of the company's Truenat test-kits jumped, with volumes reaching 62.4 lakh units against 790,000 units a year earlier. Truenat is designed to detect a range of infectious diseases at the point of care.

Why now? The results are Molbio's first as a listed company. It raised about Rs 940 crore through an initial public offering and was listed on the bourses on August 17.

What they're saying: "FY27 is a milestone year for Molbio, marking our transition to a listed company," said Sriram Natarajan, executive director and chief executive officer. He added that the firm has "begun the year on a strong note, with healthy growth across both revenue and profitability in Q1."

The signal: The sharp swing from loss to profit, backed by an eightfold jump in test-kit volumes, signals early momentum for the newly-listed diagnostics firm as it builds on point-of-care testing demand.
