One Senior Care buys PACE North, expanding rural elder care into Michigan

What each side does: Both run the Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE), which delivers medical and support services to older adults eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid. One Senior Care serves more than 1,200 participants across Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Kentucky; PACE North has operated in Northern Michigan since 2019.
What changes: The deal extends One Senior Care's footprint into Michigan, covering Benzie, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska, Leelanau, and Wexford counties, plus parts of Antrim and Manistee counties.
The rationale: One Senior Care focuses on rural and medically underserved communities. "We look forward to building on that strong foundation to serve even more older adults across Northern Michigan," said chief executive officer Craig Worland.
One more thing: The acquisition will fund a new independent, locally governed foundation for older adults in the region. It will invest in care access, mental health services, safe housing, and transportation, according to PACE North board chair Betsy Aderholdt.
The signal: The deal reflects continued consolidation among PACE operators as providers seek scale to reach rural areas, where access to preventative care is often limited.
