Spark Capital launches ₹2,500-crore push with new late-stage PE and credit funds

What's the deal? Spark Capital is expanding its private-market business with a ₹1,500-crore late-stage private equity fund and a ₹1,000-crore private credit fund. The two vehicles — Midas Fund IIDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → and Spark Equitized Credit Solutions (SpECS) Fund IIIDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → — deepen the Chennai-based group's asset-management push beyond its established investment banking franchise.

Why now? Companies increasingly seek capital beyond traditional venture funding and bank debt, opening a gap for investors that can offer both growth equity and structured credit.

What's the endgame? The Midas fund targets late-stage growth companies with visible liquidity pathways over the next 12 to 36 months. Started in July 2026, Fund II has a five-year tenure — shorter than most late-stage private-market vehicles — and provisions for co-investment.

The fund is filling fast. "Within 7 weeks of launch, Fund II has already garnered ₹1,200 crore of the planned target of ₹1,500 crore," said Rajesh Parikh, managing partner of the private equity strategy.

The track record: Midas Fund I, launched in November 2024, has made six investments, four of them now listed, including Sedemac Mechatronics, Renée Cosmetics and Lohia CorpDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →. Fund II has yet to deploy.

The credit play: Spark entered performing credit in 2019 via SpECSDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, offering structured credit to mid-market Indian businesses through debt-like structures targeting equity-like returns. Its third fund, launched in March 2025, targets ₹750 crore plus a ₹250-crore green-shoe option.

As of July 2026, SpECS Fund III had raised about ₹545 crore, with ₹372 crore deployed across 10 portfolio companies at ticket sizes of ₹20–75 crore, said Saurabh Agrawal, partner and CIO at Spark Asia Impact Asset ManagementDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →. Across three funds, SpECS has deployed over ₹1,250 crore across 36 investments.

Spark's private-market vehicles lean on its investment banking arm, which has closed transactions worth about $13 billion in capital raising and M&A advisory. Its focus areas span BFSI, consumer, technology, healthcare, industrials and infrastructure.

The signal: Combining late-stage equity with structured credit lets Spark back companies across the growth cycle — from expansion and acquisitions to pre-IPO financing and eventual exits. It is a bet that India's high-growth firms will keep reaching for flexible capital as their financing needs outgrow conventional options.
