Polish biomethane producer lands 376M PLN debt to expand regional projects
What's the deal? A Polish biogas and biomethane producer has secured 376,000,000 PLN ($136 million) in debt financing from a banking consortium. The money will fund the development of regional biomethane projects.
Why now? The financing lands as Poland moves to build out its biomethane sector. The government approved draft legislation on July 14 to introduce auction-based support mechanisms for biomethane, and parliament began debating the scheme later in the month.
The signal: Poland is fast becoming a focus for biomethane investment. Estonia's biggest producer recently secured funding to expand in the country and the Baltics, and the Polish national development bank invested €25 million in an infrastructure fund backing local projects — signs of momentum as the country's support framework takes shape.
