Alibaba raises HK$80B in equity, all earmarked for AI
What's the deal? Alibaba Group Holding will issue HK$80 billion — roughly US$10.3 billion — in new shares, with all proceeds directed to artificial intelligence. The company announced the raise on 23 August 2026 and said the money will fund its full-stack AI capabilities.
