Brinqa buys PlexTrac to close the loop on exposure management

What's the deal? Exposure management company Brinqa has acquired offensive security validation platform PlexTrac for an undisclosed sum. Brinqa collects findings from scanners, cloud accounts, and application security tools, then ranks which exposures an organisation should fix first. PlexTrac sells the software penetration testers use to verify that a fix actually worked.

What's the endgame? The purchase adds a step Brinqa's platform lacked: confirming remediation. Brinqa says it can now cover continuous threat exposure management from discovery through confirmed remediation.

Why now? Validation now sits at both ends of the cycle. Testers can prove an exposure is genuinely exploitable before an engineer is assigned, and a retest afterward shows whether the problem is gone. Every confirmed exploit and remediation feeds Brinqa's Cyber Risk Graph, the data layer its AI agents draw on.

Chief executive Dan PagelDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → said PlexTrac "brings real offensive security depth, from practitioners who have spent years proving exactly how attackers get in." Pairing that with Brinqa's platform gives customers evidence to put in front of a board, an auditor, or an AI system, he said.

Who's joining? PlexTrac founder Dan DeClossDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, currently its chief customer brand officer, joins Brinqa's executive team and board and will run the combined offensive security practice. PlexTrac's products will keep selling standalone, with the option to extend into Brinqa's platform later.

The two companies share an investor. Insight Partners led Brinqa's $110 million growth round in June 2021 and PlexTrac's $70 million Series B in February 2022. Brinqa was founded in Austin in 2009; PlexTrac operates out of Boise, Idaho.

Combined, they serve more than 3,000 customers in 57 countries, including over 25% of the Fortune 500. Brinqa's roster includes NestléDealroom has a profile for this one. The signal: Exposure management vendors are consolidating toward a single loop that spans discovery, prioritisation, and proof. Brinqa reported 164% year-over-year growth in new bookings for 2025 and says new logo bookings more than doubled in 2026 — momentum it is now backing with validation folded into its AI-driven platform.
