Standard Chartered launches ninth VCC sub-fund, taps gold with Allianz

How it works: The fund combines exposure to gold exchange-traded funds with a covered-call strategy, aiming to provide regular income while retaining participation in gold's long-term appreciation potential.
Who does what? AllianzGI's Global Multi Asset Team will handle options selection and day-to-day portfolio management.
Where and for whom? The fund is available to Accredited and Professional Investors in Hong Kong, Singapore, the UAE, Jersey, Kenya and Nigeria from August 2026, with Taiwan planned to follow later in 2026.
Why now? Standard Chartered said the strategy is designed to offer diversification and resilience amid geopolitical, monetary and market uncertainty. The bank established its VCC platform in June 2024 to provide custom-curated investment strategies through partnerships with external fund managers.
The signal: The launch illustrates how private banks are partnering with external asset managers to package alternative-asset strategies for their wealth clients. Standard Chartered said this is its fourth fund launch of 2026.
