Anthropic makes Claude Code's auto mode the default

What's the endgame? Claude Code is Anthropic's terminal-based coding assistant, part of its push to embed Claude deeper into developer workflows. Making auto mode the default nudges users toward letting the tool take more actions on its own.
The signal: Flipping autonomy on by default signals confidence in agentic coding tools — and reflects a broader industry bet that developers increasingly want AI to act, not just suggest.
