The numbers: The offering drew bids for 4.1 crore equity shares against 16.86 lakh on offer, across 9,254 applications. Retail investors led at 25.59 times, followed by qualified institutional buyers at 23.88 times and non-institutional investors at 23.25 times.

Why now? The IPO was an entirely fresh issue of 22.58 lakh shares, priced at ₹100–105 per share. The company plans to use the net proceeds for product development, a new manufacturing facility, working capital, and general corporate purposes.

Notable backers: Ahead of the issue, Aegeus raised ₹6.01 crore from anchor investors Aarth AIF Growth Fund and M7 Global Fund PCC, allotting 5.72 lakh shares at the upper end of the price band on August 3.

What's the endgame? Aegeus develops robotic solar panel cleaning systems and provides operations and maintenance services for the solar sector. It runs two manufacturing facilities for designing, assembling, and testing autonomous and semi-autonomous robots.

What could go wrong? Market observers put the shares' grey market premium at around 11%, signalling positive sentiment. But the grey market is unofficial, and premiums do not necessarily predict listing performance.

The signal: Strong oversubscription for a niche robotics maker points to sustained investor appetite for India's solar-linked ventures, even at the smaller SME end of the market.
