Hinge Health buys Cylinder for $105M, pushing into gut care

Hinge Health has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Cylinder for $105 million in cash. The move marks the musculoskeletal care company's entry into gastrointestinal (GI) treatment.

Hinge Health (NYSE: HNGE) runs AI-powered virtual care programs for muscle and joint conditions. Cylinder is a virtual-first digestive healthcare provider, bringing clinical expertise and an existing market footprint.

Hinge Health wants to build what chief executive Daniel Perez calls a "durable, multi-condition platform to automate the delivery of care." The companies plan to combine Cylinder's clinical model with Hinge's technology in a single app, launching an integrated Gastrointestinal Care Program in 2027.

Hinge Health reported second-quarter 2026 revenue of $212.8 million, up 53% year-over-year from $139.1 million. It swung to GAAP income from operations of $40.4 million, versus a $580.7 million loss a year earlier that included $591 million in stock-based compensation. Free cash flow rose to $99.6 million from $32.6 million.

Hinge Health is expanding on momentum: it added 570 clients over the year to reach 2,929, and pointed to rapid adoption of its Migraine Care Program. The company raised its full-year 2026 revenue guidance to between $856 million and $860 million.

The deal is subject to customary closing conditions and is expected to close in the third quarter of 2026. Members would eventually get GI support alongside existing musculoskeletal and migraine programs in one app.

Digital health players are consolidating around multi-condition platforms rather than single-ailment tools. By adding GI care to muscle, joint, and migraine offerings, Hinge is betting employers and health plans will favour one vendor covering more of their workforce's needs.
