Blackstone gathers $14B for secondaries fund, chasing $22.5B target

What's the deal? Blackstone has raised $14 billion in current commitments for its fifth private equity secondaries fund, Blackstone Strategic Partners Fund X. The tally follows an initial close of $5 billion in January 2026. The fund launched in 2025 with a $22.5 billion target.

What's the endgame? Through Strategic Partners, Blackstone acquires interests in funds across asset classes, offering liquidity to investors and co-investing alongside managers globally. It also provides capital to help general partners "unlock the next stage of franchise growth."

Why now? The firm is nearly two-thirds of the way to its target with roughly a year and a half of fundraising behind it. Its predecessor, Strategic Partners IX, closed at $22.2 billion in 2023 — a benchmark Fund X is on pace to match or exceed.

The signal: Blackstone, which manages $1.3 trillion, is doubling down on secondaries as institutional investors seek liquidity in a slower exit environment. A fund of this scale underscores how central the secondaries market has become to how large investors manage their private equity exposure.
