XRPL Commons launches three-track grants program, backing a $550M ecosystem

What's the deal? XRPL CommonsDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has launched a three-track grants program to fund developers building on the XRP Ledger (XRPL). The non-profit is targeting open-source contributors, early-stage teams, and established blockchain projects across every stage of development.

What's the endgame? The organisation wants to consolidate its existing efforts into one formal, multi-stage pipeline. Since 2017, total investment in XRPL ecosystem projects has crossed $550 million, with XRPL Commons providing education, incubation, and funding worldwide.

How does it work? The first track, Glow, rewards completed open-source contributions such as developer tools, documentation, and security work. Since launching in October 2025, it has funded 11 projects covering node management, transaction analytics, and post-quantum cryptography, with quarterly applications planned through December 2026.

The second track targets early-stage teams. It includes Make Waves, a 90-day competition; The Aquarium, a nine-week incubator now open internationally online; and milestone-based Early Stage Grants for projects live on testnet or mainnet.

Why now? The third track serves established products integrating XRPL infrastructure. LOBSTRDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a major wallet in the Stellar ecosystem, recently integrated XRPL after partnering with XRPL Commons, connecting over 1.5 million users to the network.

XRPL Commons credits the ledger's architecture: a native decentralised exchange without MEV or front-running, compliance-friendly Permissioned DEX capabilities, escrow, and cross-currency settlements. Transaction finality lands in 3–5 seconds, with fees well below one cent.

The signal: XRPL Commons says funding has shifted from a centralised model to a collaborative one, where independent groups back builders together. Messari's Q1 2026 report showed 3.7 billion transactions processed and daily volume up 35.3% quarter-over-quarter to 2.48 million, while tokenised real-world assets hit a record $2.25 billion — a 124.1% jump — signalling growing institutional interest.
