TIM-backed Upload Ventures invests in AI legaltech Enter, minting a unicorn

What's the deal? Upload VenturesDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, the venture fund anchored by telecom giant TIMDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, has invested in Enter, a Brazilian AI startup that automates legal processes. The deal lifts Enter to unicorn status. TIM is both an investor through the fund and a client using Enter's technology.

Why now? The investment follows a pilot in which TIM tested Enter's AI system across thousands of its own judicial processes. The operator reports faster preparation of legal defenses, greater standardization of documents, and support in settlement negotiations.

What's the endgame? Having established itself in automating consumer law processes, Enter is expanding into labor law — a larger market — and structuring a team for the US.

The company, backed by Sequoia and Founders Fund, is among the fastest-growing tech firms in Latin America. It has drawn international talent to relocate to its base in Brazil, a factor in its rapid growth.

How it came together: Upload Ventures (UVP), managed by Mário Ermírio de Moraes, brokered the partnership. Moraes had a prior connection with Enter's chief technology officer, Michael Mac-Vicar, which led to an introduction to TIM's chief executive officer.

Vicente Ferreira, TIM's vice president of investor relations and strategy, said the company was already witnessing a transformation in its legal operations before the investment arose. The integration is part of TIM's digital transformation program across customer service, operations, and sales.

The signal: TIM's decision to invest through a managed fund rather than directly reflects a modern approach to corporate venture capital, giving the corporation access to a broader pool of high-potential startups while a specialist handles selection.
