BeOne bets $300M more on New Jersey plant, lifting US spend past $1B
What's the deal? BeOne Medicines is expanding its flagship manufacturing and research center at the Princeton West Innovation Campus in Hopewell, New Jersey, with a $300 million investment. The move adds small molecule manufacturing capacity and lifts the oncology company's total US manufacturing spend to more than $1 billion. It expects to create about 120 full-time jobs.
What does the company do? BeOne — listed on the Nasdaq, Hong Kong, and Shanghai exchanges — is a global oncology company. Its pipeline spans more than 35 clinical and commercial-stage assets.
What's the endgame? The expansion increases capacity to make BeOne's medicines and support that deep pipeline. Adding small molecule capacity at the Hopewell site broadens capabilities that already include biologics manufacturing and clinical research.
Why now? "Today's announcement reflects BeOne's commitment to strengthening" US production, said chief financial officer Aaron Rosenberg. The build-out deepens the company's domestic manufacturing footprint as it scales toward commercialising more of its cancer drugs.
The signal: Reshoring drug production onto US soil is a growing priority for biotech, and BeOne's move past the $1 billion mark signals a bet on controlling supply reliability and cost as its oncology portfolio grows.
