Moonshot AI plans $30B Hong Kong IPO within six months after Kimi K3 launch

What's the deal? Moonshot AI has told investors it is preparing to list in Hong Kong in as soon as six months, Bloomberg reported in July 2026. The Chinese startup has distributed a shareholder resolution seeking backing for the IPO and is wrapping a funding round that may value the three-year-old company at more than $30 billion.

Why now? Moonshot recently unveiled Kimi K3, a 2.8-trillion-parameter open-weight model that matched or exceeded AnthropicDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →'s Fable 5 and OpenAI's GPT-5.6 on several benchmarks. The company had been preparing to list before the release, but the model's reception gave the IPO thesis a demonstration no pitch deck could replicate.

By the numbers: Annual recurring revenue hit $300 million in June 2026, up from $200 million in April 2026. Artificial Analysis ranked K3 ahead of Anthropic's Opus 4.8 on some frontier benchmarks, making it the first Chinese open-weight model to reach that mark.

Who's involved? CICC and Goldman SachsDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → are in talks to work on the offering. Moonshot is also dismantling its offshore VIE structure, a prerequisite for a smoother Hong Kong listing under the China Securities Regulatory Commission's revised rules, after Beijing declined to grant an exemption.

What's the product? Moonshot sells tiered chatbot subscriptions and enterprise API access, and recently launched Kimi Work, a general-purpose AI agent. K3 is priced at roughly Anthropic Sonnet levels, signalling the company believes it can charge a premium over other Chinese models.

The signal: This would be one of the largest Chinese AI listings on record. With rival Z.AI on track for $1 billion in annual sales and DeepSeek planning a 2027 IPO, the race to list is also a race to set the public-market valuation benchmark for Chinese AI — and Moonshot, at $30 billion and climbing, wants to get there first.
