Parabilis Medicines stages record $670M biotech IPO

What's the deal? Parabilis Medicines completed the largest biotech IPO on record, raising $670 million in its Nasdaq debut on 10 June 2026 and seeing its shares jump 58% on the first day of trading. The oncology-focused drug developer sold 33.5 million shares — up from an earlier plan of 25 million — at $20 each, above its expected $17–$19 range. The stock closed at $31.60, valuing the company at roughly $2.4 billion.

The offering topped the previous biotech record set by Kailera Therapeutics, an obesity-drug developer that staged a $625 million IPO in April 2026.

Why it matters. Cambridge, Mass.-based Parabilis formed in 2015 (previously FogPharma) to crack an old problem: most disease-causing proteins inside cells are unreachable to drugs — antibodies can't penetrate cells, and many proteins have flat surfaces with no binding pockets for small molecules. Its "Helicon" platform yields drug candidates that can both enter cells and bind to those smooth-surfaced proteins. The lead candidate, zolucatetide, is in development for desmoid tumors, with potential in colorectal cancer and hepatocellular carcinoma.

Platform-oriented biotechs fell out of favour during the recent funding slump, and Parabilis was difficult to finance at times post-Covid, according to Dr. Krishna Yeshwant, managing partner at investor GV and a Parabilis board member. The debut is the latest sign biotechs are shaking off last year's IPO slump, with robust M&A activity and positive clinical data smoothing the path for new offerings despite high interest rates.
