Buffer crosses $25M ARR milestone

Buffer crossed $25M in ARR in May 2026, a significant milestone after spending approximately eight years around the $20M mark. CEO and co-founder Joel Gascoigne shared the news publicly alongside an ARR chart showing the company's unconventional growth trajectory.

Buffer's path was far from linear. Key milestones from Gascoigne's post:

• 5.5 years to reach $10M ARR
• 3 more years to reach $20M ARR
• Revenue then declined back to ~$18M during a period of strategic re-evaluation
• 6 years to recover back to $20M
• Just 15 months from $20M to $25M — the fastest growth stretch in Buffer's history

The company crossed $24M ARR just two months before hitting $25M, indicating accelerating momentum. As of 14 May 2026, Buffer's ARR stood at $25.02M (+0.8% WoW).

Buffer is a bootstrapped social media management platform that famously raised only a $3.5M Series A (October 2014) and has been self-sustaining since. The company is known for its radical transparency, including publishing revenue figures publicly. The recovery from the $18M trough and acceleration past $25M signals a successful product refocus after years of stagnation.
