The company
Warp Sciences is a US-based chemistry contract research organisation that pairs expert chemists with AI and robotics to make and test molecules for biotech and pharma clients. Its first service is lead optimization analog synthesis — producing variations of promising molecules, priced per compound delivered — with no proprietary pipeline, so customers keep full control of their drug programmes.
Discovery chemistry has drifted offshore even as AI and lab automation finally make it viable to run high-throughput synthesis at scale back home. Warp is betting on a flywheel: data from physical experiments trains its models, which then run the lab more efficiently.
The company says it wants to bring discovery chemistry work back to the United States, building an automated CRO that chemists guide rather than one that replaces them.
The founding team includes Kevin Weil (CEO, formerly Chief Product Officer and VP of Science at OpenAI) and DJ Patil (COO, the first US Chief Data Scientist), alongside a CSO who co-founded Terremoto Biosciences and a CTO formerly of Meta Superintelligence Labs — a mix of AI, data and medicinal chemistry that fits the problem.
