The company
SuperRadiant is building general-purpose robotic experimentalists — systems that pair scientific reasoning with physical action to observe, hypothesise, and run experiments autonomously. The company calls this 'Embodied Scientific Intelligence', aimed at R&D, materials science, and drug discovery where physical experimentation, not just data analysis, is the bottleneck.
Most of the AI-for-science wave has stayed computational; SuperRadiant is betting the real constraint is the hands-on, iterative loop of running experiments in the physical world. As robotics and long-horizon autonomy mature, closing that loop autonomously starts to look feasible.
Founded in San Francisco in 2026 by three researchers with roots in physics and computer science, the company is built on the idea that discovery accelerates when a machine can hypothesise and then physically test — not just crunch existing datasets.
The founding team brings unusually relevant depth: Owen Tower holds a Physics PhD from Brown with research at NASA JPL and CERN/LHC in phase transitions and micro/nanofluidics; Benedict Quartey earned a CS PhD from Brown on verifiable robots and spatial world models, and built long-horizon autonomy systems at the Boston Dynamics Robotics & AI Institute; Cooper Niu is a Physics PhD candidate at Brown.
