The company
SlateOne is building AI software for film and television pre-production that takes a screenplay and breaks it down into structured data. It extracts characters, props, wardrobe, locations and other production elements and links them to the budget and shooting schedule.
The company says pre-production still runs on fragmented, manual workflows, and its platform puts breakdown, budget and schedule on one data source. Productions can pay per project or subscribe to term plans for a slate of projects.
SlateOne was founded in 2026 in Cape Town by Gerhard Mostert. Its target customers are indie filmmakers, production companies, studios, producers, line producers and unit production managers.
Mostert previously worked at Endemol Shine Group, red pepper pictures and Hyperion Development, and studied at Red & Yellow Creative School of Business.
