The company

What they're building

Sequenza provides structured financial and ownership data on Belgian companies, with annual accounts going back to 1985, including balance sheets, income statements and social balance sheets. The data is linked to an ownership graph and director connections and can be used on the web, downloaded in bulk for Stata, Excel, R and Python, or accessed by API.

Why now

Sequenza launched publicly in September 2026 and raised a seed round to expand the dataset and its distribution for education and research.

The backstory

Sequenza is a KU Leuven spin-off set up as a European Cooperative Society. Its members include KU Leuven, UCLouvain, the University of Antwerp and Ghent University, and the cooperative model gives priority to research access.

Why this team

The data taxonomies were designed by accounting professors. Co-founder Jesse Wursten studied at KU Leuven, and co-founder Edwin Zimmermann previously worked at Incofin.
