The company
GridZero builds software that monitors and controls local electricity distribution networks in real time, managing voltage, active and reactive power, capacity limits and flexible connections. Partners build standardised power electronics and storage to its blueprint, and GridZero supplies the control and integration logic.
GridZero is designed for future requirements on local network control, flexibility and circular solutions. Its applications include voltage regulation, dynamic line rating, peak load management, backup power, island operation and black start, and its storage can use second-life EV batteries.
GridZero is based in Stockholm and was founded in 2026. It sells the platform as software-as-a-service, from a single node up to thousands of grid resources, and makes a compact unit, the GridZero Mini, that fits in a cable cabinet.
Founder Niklas Sjöberg previously worked at Modern Times Group, Springworks AB and iGotcha.
