The company
DeepMelon Technologies is building acoustic intelligence for the ocean, starting with proprietary underwater listening stations that monitor marine environments and gather bioacoustic data. The long-term plan follows a three-stage path — protect, understand, connect — with the eventual ambition of enabling communication with cetacean species.
The hard problems here — underwater signal processing, saltwater attenuation, and running AI on power-constrained sub-sea embedded systems — are only now becoming tractable, and the company is targeting R&D initiatives such as the EIC 2027 Horizon Pathfinder programme.
Founded in Gdańsk in 2026, DeepMelon pairs a commercial engineering company with a non-commercial entity, Dolphin Democracy, which handles charitable activity, public engagement and advocacy.
The founding team includes Paulina Kamińska, described as a financial and strategic architect with over fifteen years in private equity and M&A; the company is still recruiting a founding CTO with marine engineering or underwater sensing expertise.
