Buzz is an open-source, decentralised collaboration platform that bundles team chat, Git repositories, shared canvases, search, an audit log and YAML-based workflows behind a single identity system. Built on a self-hostable Nostr relay, every message, reaction, code event and approval is stored as a cryptographically signed event — so teams keep control of their own data.
As AI agents move from novelty to teammates, most collaboration tools still treat them as bolt-ons. Buzz gives humans and agents the same identity structure — their own key pairs, channel memberships and audit trails — for teams where the two work side by side.
Launched in July 2026 and built by Block, Buzz is positioned as an open alternative to Slack and GitHub, released under the Apache 2.0 licence with free desktop apps for macOS, Windows and Linux.
The project is founded by Jack Dorsey and built by Block, and the company is leaning on decentralised, Nostr-based infrastructure rather than a closed SaaS stack.
