Atum
Neutral coordination network for global stablecoin payments.
The founders
The company
Atum is building an open, credibly neutral coordination layer for stablecoin payments — handling authorisation, routing, quoting and confirmation between payment participants. Crucially, it doesn't issue a token, run a blockchain, or take custody: independent settlement providers complete transfers on their own pricing, timing and risk terms.
Stablecoin volumes are moving from crypto-native niches into card issuers, PSPs, wallets and enterprises, but the rails remain fragmented. A neutral layer that coordinates rather than competes could be the missing connective tissue as stablecoin payments go mainstream.
The company emerged from stealth in September 2026, positioning itself around one deliberate choice: neutrality. Rather than owning a rail, Atum sits between participants and lets senders, receivers and even software agents initiate payments under their own rules.
Founder Pete Cooling previously led Visa's crypto product team and represented Visa on the Linux Foundation's OpenWallet Foundation, contributing to standards for digital wallets and stablecoins — relevant grounding for a business built on interoperability and neutrality.
