Bob Muglia
Former Snowflake CEO · investor
Bob Muglia is an American technology executive, author and investor, best known as the former CEO of Snowflake, the cloud data-warehousing company, which he led from 2014 to 2019 and scaled through its high-growth pre-IPO years (Snowflake went public in 2020 under his successor Frank Slootman). Before Snowflake he spent roughly 23 years at Microsoft, rising to President of the Server and Tools Business, where he oversaw products including Windows Server, SQL Server and Visual Studio.
Between Microsoft and Snowflake, Muglia was an executive at Juniper Networks, and he is the author of “The Datapreneurs,” a book on data and the rise of AI. His career has tracked the evolution of enterprise data infrastructure from the database era to the cloud. He writes and speaks widely on the future of data platforms and enterprise AI.
Since leaving full-time operating roles, Muglia has been an active enterprise-data and AI investor and board director, with roles at companies including Fivetran, RelationalAI, Pinecone and Docugami. Dealroom also tracks his investment in Perplexity. His backing reflects a consistent thesis around data infrastructure and AI for the enterprise — the domains he helped define.
