Shanghai Lingyi Automobile Technology, operating as Zeron Truck, is a developer and manufacturer of new energy heavy-duty trucks, established in April 2022 with headquarters in Taicang, China. The company was co-founded by Huang Zehua, a co-founder and former engineering executive at autonomous truck firm TuSimple, and Zhang Hongsong, who previously served as general manager of Sany Heavy Truck and vice president at Beiqi Foton Daimler Automotive. Huang, a Carnegie Mellon robotics graduate, transitioned from computer vision R&D at TuSimple to truck systems engineering, which led to the creation of Zeron. His experience revealed that retrofitting autonomous systems onto existing truck platforms was inefficient, establishing the company's core strategy: designing and building electric trucks from the ground up to be inherently optimized for autonomous driving.

Zeron's business model revolves around the full-stack, in-house research and development of its vehicles, covering everything from the powertrain and thermal management systems to the autonomous driving software. This vertical integration approach allows the company to define hardware through software, aiming for structural cost optimization and supply chain control. The company generates revenue through the sale of its electric heavy trucks to clients in the logistics industry, particularly targeting the short- and medium-haul transportation market, which constitutes a significant portion of the heavy truck sector. By mid-2025, Zeron had already delivered nearly 700 vehicles, which have covered over 25 million kilometers.

The company launched its first generation of smart trucks in 2024, the "Jingzhe" and "Xiaoman" models. These vehicles are designed for high efficiency and reliability. The Jingzhe features a 385 kWh battery capable of charging to 80% in under 35 minutes with dual charging points, while the Xiaoman is equipped with a 350 kWh LFP battery. A key feature is the proprietary "MATRIX" integrated electric drive system, a four-in-one assembly combining the motor, gearbox, axle, and power take-off, which enhances efficiency by up to 13% over traditional systems. Zeron has also developed the industry's first commercial vehicle heat pump thermal management system, significantly reducing energy consumption in extreme temperatures. Looking ahead, the company is developing its own autonomous driving system, "ZSD," and aims to deploy vehicles with this technology in semi-enclosed environments like ports and mines, with plans for large-scale commercialization of high-level autonomous driving around 2030.
