Zero Gravity Labs
Decentralized operating system for on-chain AI applications
About Zero Gravity Labs
Zero Gravity Labs Inc. (0G Labs), founded in 2023, is a Web3 company developing what it describes as the world's first decentralized artificial intelligence operating system (dAIOS). The firm's mission is to establish AI as a public good by creating an open and transparent infrastructure for AI applications to run securely on-chain. This approach aims to counter the centralization of AI technology, addressing concerns about data privacy, security, and control.
The company was co-founded by CEO Michael Heinrich, CTO Ming Wu, CSO Fan Long, and CBO Thomas Yao. Heinrich's background includes roles at Microsoft, SAP, and Bridgewater Associates, as well as founding the startup Garten. Wu is a former researcher at Microsoft and served as the CTO of Conflux, a company also co-founded by Long. The founding team was formed in late 2022 after Yao, a classmate of Heinrich's at Stanford, connected him with Wu and Long.
The core of 0G Labs' offering is dAIOS, a modular Layer-1 blockchain infrastructure designed to support decentralized AI applications. The system features a high-speed data availability layer capable of handling up to 50 gigabytes per second, which is intended to efficiently process large datasets required for AI workloads directly on the blockchain. The architecture separates data storage from processing and includes a decentralized inference layer for real-time AI computation. 0G Labs is also developing a "Uni-Chain" architecture to facilitate interoperability between different blockchain networks.
In 2024, 0G Labs announced significant funding, including a $35 million pre-seed round in March followed by a $40 million seed round in November. Concurrently, the 0G Foundation, which handles long-term governance for the 0G Protocol, secured a $250 million token purchase commitment. These funding rounds saw participation from a wide range of investors, including Hack VC, Delphi Digital, OKX Ventures, Samsung Next, and Animoca Brands.
