About Zedsen

Zedsen is a UK-based health technology company founded in 2014 by Sir Charles Masefield, Daniel Honeywell, Paul Honeywell, and Dr. Hrand Mamigonians. The company is developing non-invasive sensor technology that utilizes Electrical Capacitance Tomography (ECT) to analyze biological tissues. This technology, which has 46 global patents, creates 3D electrical fields to measure the electrical properties of materials, such as human tissue, without radiation or breaking the skin. The data is then processed by algorithms to identify different materials and structures, with an initial focus on differentiating between healthy and malignant tissue for cancer detection.

The company's primary product in development is the Z-Scanner, a portable device that uses a flat array of parallel electrodes, removing the need for the painful compression associated with conventional ECT methods. Zedsen has partnered with Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust to conduct a clinical study at Charing Cross Hospital throughout 2024 to validate the technology's ability to differentiate between benign and cancerous lesions. The long-term vision is to provide an affordable and portable diagnostic tool suitable for use in primary care and community clinic settings to improve early access to cancer diagnostics.

In July 2023, Michael Lynch and Martin Harriman, known for their success with WaveOptics, joined as CEO and Chairman, respectively, to guide Zedsen through its clinical trials and commercialization phase. The company has secured significant funding, including a Series B round of $12 million in April 2021, which valued the company at $110 million. Key investors include Oppenheimer, Rubellite Holdings, Joseph R. Grano, and Nasser Kazeminy.
